Top 10 brands that mostly mispronounced

This is based on what i observe with other people. I admit i have some difficulties with other brands with hard pronunciation. But i can't stop laughing when some stranger mispronounced a luxury brand while inside the actual store or high end department store.





10. Longines - Normal people or people with no knowledge with luxury brands would say /Lawng-ines /. The proper pronunciation of Longines is /Lawng-jeen/. Longines a luxury watches house based in Saint-Imier, Switzerland. Founded by Auguste Agassiz in 1832, the company is owned by the Swatch Group. Its winged hourglass logo is the oldest registered for a watchmaker. Longines is known for its 'Aviators' watches. A company director was a friend of Charles Lindbergh; after his transatlantic flight, Lindbergh designed a pilot watch to help with air navigation. Built to his specifications, it is still produced today. Longines provided timers used at the first modern-day Olympics in 1896. In 1899, Longines went to the North Pole with Arctic explorer Louis Amédée de Savoie. It was the first to use automatic timekeeping for the Federal Gymnastics, at Basel in 1912. Today, Longines remains a widely recognized name in sport watches and chronographs.




9. Balmain - People with no knowledge in luxury would definitely pronounce it /Bol-meyn/. The pronunciation of Balmain is /Bal-mah/. Balmain is a fashion house that was founded by Pierre Balmain. Balmain was born in 1914 in France. His father owned a drapery business and his mother and sister owned a fashion boutique where he often worked after his father’s death in 1921. He always had a love of fashion and an eye for design. He attended the Ècole des Beaux Arts in 1933-1934 with intent to study architecture but instead ended up spending the majority of his time designing dresses. After working for atelier Robert Piquet as a freelance artist and spending time with Edward Molyneux, he left school to work for Molyneux. In the late 1930s, he served in the French air force and the army pioneer corps. After peace was declared, he worked at Lucien Lelong and opened his own fashion house under his name. He released his first collection in 1945 and his first fragrance in 1949. While at Lelong, he met Christian Dior, a designer who would play a huge role in Balmain’s career and the postwar fashion industry in general.

Tag Heuer designs, manufactures and markets watches, chronographs and fashion accessories while also marketing eyewear and mobile phones manufactured under license by other companies and carrying the Tag Heuer brand name. TAG Heuer began as Uhrenmanufaktur Heuer AG, founded in 1860 by Edouard Heuer in St-Imier, Switzerland. The company was purchased by TAG Group (Holdings) S.A. in 1985, when the Heuer brand became TAG Heuer. In 1999, TAG Group sold TAG Heuer to French luxury goods conglomerate LVMH Moët Hennessy • Louis Vuitton. The name Tag Heuer combines an abbreviation for Techniques d'Avant Garde and the surname Heuer.

Guerlain is a French perfume house, among the oldest in the world. It has a large customer following, and has traditionally been held in high esteem in the perfume industry. Perfumes by Guerlain are often said to be characterized by a common olfactory accord known as the "Guerlinade". A perfume by the same name was launched by Guerlain in 1921.

5. Guy Laroche - People with no knowledge in luxury would definitely pronounce it /Guy-Larosh/. The correct pronunciation of  Guy Laroche is /Gee-Lah-Rosh/. Guy Larche was a fashion designer and founder of the eponymous company.




4. Givenchy - People with no knowledge in luxury would definitely pronounce it /Give-En-Chee/. The correct pronunciation of Givenchy is /Jhee-von-Shee/. Givenchy is a luxury French brand of Haute Couture clothing, accessories, perfumes and cosmetics with Parfums Givenchy. The house of Givenchy was founded in 1952 by designer Hubert de Givenchy and is a member of Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture et du Pret-a-Porter. It is owned by luxury group LVMH and in 1993 achieved a total sales worth of $176 million, making it the second largest apparel division of LVMH after Dior.

Comme des Garcons is French for "Like Boys", is a Japanese fashion label headed by Rei Kawakubo, who owns the company with her husband Adrian Joffe. Comme des Garçons is based in Tokyo and also in the prestigious Place Vendôme in Paris, the city in which they show their main collections during Paris Fashion Week and Paris Men's Fashion Week. Each year, the company grosses about $180 million. The Japanese flagship store is in Aoyama, Tokyo's high fashion district. The company also has concept stores Trading Museum Comme des Garçons and 10 Corso Como Comme des Garçons in Tokyo, and stores in Kyoto, Osaka and Fukuoka. Worldwide they have traditional Comme des Garçons stores in Rue du Faubourg St-Honoré in Paris and on West 22nd Street in New York, as well as stores in Hong Kong, Beijing, Bangkok, Seoul, Singapore, and Manila.




2. Peugeot - Normal people from the street would definitely pronounce it /Pyu-jot/. The correct pronunciation of Peugeot is /Poo-jsho/. Peugeot is a French car brand, part of PSA Peugeot Citroën.
The family business that preceded the current Peugeot company was founded in 1810, and manufactured coffee mills and bicycles. On 20 November 1858, Emile Peugeot applied for the lion trademark. Armand Peugeot built the concern's first car, an unreliable steam tricycle, in collaboration with Leon Serpollet in 1889; this was followed in 1890 by an internal combustion car with a Panhard-Daimler engine. 1. Koenigsegg - NOrmal people from the street would definitely say it's /Koin-segg/ and sometimes they don't say the brand name. They just gonna say the exotic car. The correct pronunciation of Koenigsegg is /Kou-nig-zegg/. Koegnisegg  is a Swedish manufacturer of high-performance sports cars, also known as hyper-cars, based in Ängelholm.
